Ironman mode is harsh - very harsh! I sometimes go Ironman for a cross-chart run, and that can be harsh - but for 25 ROCs? Good luck, amigo!I'm trying to make it all the way to Elite on "hard core" mode.

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Re: Screenshots
Hey-ho. Long time no post. My computer took a nose dive and I ended up having to reformat it and because I didn't have an external backup, I lost all my Oolite stuff. Having to go back and redownload and re-edit everything to get it back to the way I had it before was a huge hassle and that killed any motivation to play for a while. I got back in to gear recently and have almost gotten back to where I was at before I lost everything so here are a few shots.
"Llama at Alaza"
Normally I tend to bounce around the Old Worlds, drifting between Zaonce, Ensoreus, and Onrira but yesterday I decided to take a passenger up to Alaza. The trip went fairly smoothly. My extra heat shielding burned out about a fourth of the way through the trip but I didn't want to waste the time having it fixed so I left it broken until I docked in Alaza. Some pirates got the jump on me at the beacon in Mariar. They demanded four tons of cargo when I had none. I bet their scanners were mistaking the passenger berth for something else. I had enough fuel left to escape through witchspace so they weren't much of a problem. The rest of the trip was scoop-jump-scoop-jump. Easy money.
"Pulsar?"
Since I was in the neighborhood and my Llama needed the loving caress of a good mechanic, I hopped over to Tianve to get my ship looked at and also do some sightseeing. The pulsar was not quite what I was expecting. I took a gander before heading back to the main station for maintenance and some R&R.

Re: Screenshots
Thanks, spara, I'll check. I see all other images okay... strange!
Ahh... uBlock Origin doesn't like those three images for some reason.

Re: Screenshots
A bit old-school remix goodness. CaptKev's & Griff's old dodo model, CaptSolo's retouched Griff X1 dock, Griff's X1 flashers, Simon B's Neolite alienhull texture + normalmap spiced with Neolite alien-coriolis texture and a subtle glow around the dock. Uses core shaders.
Coming to the new version of Stations for Extra Planets oxp somewhere in the future.

Re: Screenshots
Is it only me or does it seem a bit of DOF (Depth Of Field) effect on the upper part of the station?
Could it be a texturing artifact? Or a shading one?

Re: Screenshots
I think it's more related to normal maps failing when viewing angle is too low (not these particular ones, this is a problem with normal maps in general).

... and the fact that in a still (screenshot) they are very likely more visible than during the game (when they could be considered to be a "monitor motion blur" artifact). Also the color combination could also have a contribution.another_commander wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2017 2:44 pmI think it's more related to normal maps failing when viewing angle is too low (not these particular ones, this is a problem with normal maps in general).
Heh, normalmaps! Always better not too look at them along the tangent to the surface

Is that a Griff Griffin? <grins> Thanks, I'd forgotten to re-install that.
