Music Thread!

Post by NEANDERTHAL »

So, what's your favorite album/musician/singer/songwriter/band/digeridooist?

I've been listening to a lot of AURORA and Lana Del Rey lately. Chairlift's album Something is quite a gem, too.

Hey... play the guitars!

As for favourites: there are many, from Bach to Zappa!

hmmm, Outlaws you say?

I prefer mostly to electronic music, J.M.Jarre, but listen to many others, including Pink Floyd, t.At.U, Nirvana and Rammstein

I can only echo the comments with WTF is this video, but man I bloomin' love the guitar on this ;) give it a couple of minutes to warm up
Man, if I could play guitar like this this then i'd probably give up speech and communicate entirely with leather pants and epic string bends

I've been into modernised retro stuff lately. German Remix Group (http://www.germanremixgroup.de/) has released awesome free tribute albums for maestros Rob Hubbard, Jeroen Tel and Jochen Hippel.

I'm mainly into death metal. Here is an old playlist if someone's interested: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... 6F2BFBF3EF

When I need something more quiet I can go for Norah Jones for instance (well, even death metal can be gentle and quiet at times: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnsAObY7Fw0).

Actually the latest album I bought is from Lake Street Dive, which is not metal at all. There's plenty of live performances from them on Youtube. In particular, they gave a master class in a music school that is very interesting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwpXTeKhWYs.

Death Metal? What you need is some serious shirt grinding!

It's a bit shit, but i'm into live & loopy hardware trancy stuff, & one of my first recordings (ahem  ) "borrowed" some of the sounds from Oolite, that you might find amusing.

Not great, but not terrible either.. and you looked to be having fun making it. Think I caught all the Oolite samples.. nicely done. Thanks!
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Not half bad, a couple of times I thought this part could make a nice oolite intro or outro tune

I thought it was quite neat, actually. I'd definitely get up and dance to that beat in a club.

Classic rock, 70's, 80's and 90's. Mostly 80's hair metal.

Some "space music", that strange spacy eletronica.

And lately, getting big on Neoclassical and Symphonic metal. You can't believe how brutally kickass Bach can be till you've heard Bach played metal style!

And just for fun, a dinosaur hair band in Finland. Nevermind if you can't understand Finnish - I can't -these reptiles are damn good. And yes, they really play.

Yeah, ERock! Quite a skilled axman; I rather enjoy his "meets metal" series.

This guy is Piotrek Gruszka, aka Gru, a guitarist in Poland. Also exceptionally talented.
