My G8 set only has 255 textures - have I lost one, or is it missing? Either way, is there an easy way to check which planet texture is missing?
Make a list of .png files, another from planet names in Oolite_galaxies.ods, order alphabetically, place next to each other and binary half up-down in the similar and shifted-by-one lines.
Spoiler: there are two planets with the same name, planet no. 22 and 156 both named to Inzaan. The texture files are named after planets so none is missing just use the same file.
A little tweak which should prevent any Oolite clouds from appearing on Povray gas giants. Seems to be working (I think). Yes it is - here!
Drop the linked planetinfo.plist into your personal AddOns/Config folder.

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Thanks, Amah - a nice texture, is that. Oolite's cloud default is cloud_alpha = 1.000000; - if you wanted to reduce that, you could replace all 1,858 (there are 190 gas giants) default entries with your preference. I'm currently using cloud_alpha = 0.600000; which suits me fine.

Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied
Any Povrayers using the above tweak who are cruising in G1? A new planetinfo.plist which replaces the one in Povray's own Config folder for G1 needs testing. It should disable atmospheres and clouds on gas giants, and switch their textures away from planet descriptions which contain oceans, forests, etc. Any takers will first need to remove the previous tweaked planetinfo.plist.
