Good name for a ship, that - The Cigar-Smoking Fish-Coconut
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Oh, I should have used a few more words in my previous answer.

Ok, a stillsuit is a suit worn by the Fremen which Paul as sign of him being the Muad'Dib was able to put on correctly whithout being trained on how to do it on the planet of Dune.

Ooooh,

Uhhhhmmm,

Uhhhhmmmmmm.

It's on the tip of my tongue!

Uhhhmm,

Oh yes, Frankie-boy.

Phew .....

Anywaiz,

while (st?) I get the ship to the backyard repair shop for a bit of TLC and a spout up its bum, here's a question about a short story of a venerable GrandMaster.

What happened to the weapon that was too dreadful to use?

My man Isaac...

i thought i had read all his sci fi but dont remember this short story, so thanks for the read..

flipant answer "it got used"

answer i think you were after is the last two sentences of the story.
And with the signing of the treaty, a whirling speck shot out toward the sun. It was-the weapon too dreadful to use.

You are soooo right, Spud. :) :D :) :D :) :D

And glad to have been of service! :D I enjoyed that story as part of 'The Early Asimov' collection, which was even more enjoyable since he explained the stories and how he came to write them in the first place!

And to think that that story was first published in 1939!!!!!

And to think that he has left us already fourteen years ago!

But, the Cismofico is on her way to you, freshly repaired, shined and refilled with a little (ok, minute) bottle of Zaragetian Evil Juice in the ship's bar as a bonus.

Jusr remember that Evil Juice and spaceflight don't really go well together!

Anyway, over to you!

Thanks Captain...
14 years? it doesnt seem that long but when i checked online its actually been 24 years!! April 6 1992. a man sorely missed... and to think he wrote more non fiction books than his sci fi!.

any way i digress..... The CiSmoFiCo ( for short) is on autopilot in Gal 1 heading for a quiet Anarchy tucked away in the corner......

getting away from author and title questions , your starter for 50 in the catagory of fantasy novels is:

The mighty Dragons of Pern it turns out ( spoiler) were genetically engineered. From what?

I really enjoyed these books.
If I remember correctly they were bred from some sort of lizard which was native to Pern. They could puff fire which they used as a defence against an airbourne threat - some sort of fungus or something.
It's been years since I read these - perhaps I should go fact-check, but somebody else will have answered by then if I did!

My mind must be going if I can't even do the simplest of sums in my head anymore. :( :( :( :( :(

But you are right! I just loved his 'Understanding Physics' 'trilogy'! He definitely made popular science popular!! Well, he did in my case, anyway.
