Yup, works fine here. Try using that same link you sent me, copy everything to Clipboard, then paste as-is into Gimp or MSPaint or IrfanView (or whatever), then save it as splash.bmp overwriting what you have now.

<scratches head - again> No joy, still displays a bit like UV, and no text. Gotta be down to GIMP and me!

It must be GIMP - when I do all that in MS Paint, Oolite displays it fine! Sorted (I hope) - thanks for your help, amigo.
Wish I could obtain a pic of the faulty GIMP image though - rather nice, in an odd kind of way.
