OOOOOHHHHHH! That one I DO know.

Them be the Taurans! Or was it Tauruns? Hmmm, I'll stick with the first one.

I remember this because this was the first science fiction board game that I got, back in the eighties! The game was based on the Forever War.

The boardgame was rather naff, iirc, but the story was a lot better.

A very good tale, is that.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

<Sniff><Sniff>

Hmm, some strange smell is emanating from my computer. Rxke, how fresh was that fish that you gave to Disembodied?

Anywayzzzz, there is no smell that strong that it will beat a peg on the nose, so here goes .......

Thora and Crest meet two American astronauts on the moon as they were looking for a treatement to cure Crest.

Name either:
The race that Thora and Crest belong to or
The name of either astronauts.

:P Naah, definitely a fishy smell. Don't know what you're smelling over there but it obviously ain't what I'm smelling here. Besides, doesn't every ship smell of fried electronics with a dash of acrid oil? Just need to use a gallon more of OO-wick, mate.

Mind you, the smell does remind me of some anchovies, peanut butter and coffee syrup pizza I had last winter. Just without the peanut butter and coffee syrup smell, that is.

What he said. I have a regular night in with some ex-university buddies where careers, politics and the state of the world/education/whatever was discussed whilst slurping some alcoholic beverages. After a couple of bottles of Glenfiddich we started watching television and a repeat was on from MasterChef where John Terrode said that to be succesful you had to be bold with flavours.
So we did. The anchovies and peanut butter were already tried before during a previous session (I think someone said he read about it on the internet) but we wanted to use chocolate sauce on this one when one of us thought that that wouldn't bake too well on a pizza. So we substituted it with the other thick brown liquid I had in the cupboard, i.e. coffee syrup.

We all had a slice, of course.

None of us threw up but the smell was definitely worse than the taste. And it isn't something you want to eat every day.

In fact the smell lingered so long inside the oven that the Mizzus made me scrub it clean. Twice. :( :(

Ah, excellent tale! Thanks for sharing.
I did make a leak pizza once which Mrs_Smivs thought was disgusting, but I thought it was quite nice. I hope this thread isn't about to get derailed...

I feel your pain, Smivs.

As for derailing, I would be happy to ask a moderator to place this in the culinary section of the bbs, but alas ...........

ANYWAYZZZ

The meeting of the four took place at the start of a German science fiction series.

Haven't got a clue, but Google/Wiki gives me Arkonides?

A quote about a film version:
It was based on the Perry Rhodan universe, and is considered so appallingly bad that fans of the series playfully deny its very existence.

Close enough, Cody!

Officially they are Arkoniden (German plural form) who met Pherry Rhodan and Reginald Bull on the moon.

Amazing, considering that that story started on the 8th of September 1961 !!!!!! (Yes! 55 years ago!)
And they have brought out a new story every week since then and they are still writing!)

Oh, and you were misinformed, Cody. At NO point was a film made of this serie. Not in 1967 and it was DEFINITELY NOT called Mission Stardust. That was just a figment of the movie makers imagination. The non-existing movie makers because there was NO movie.

Ahum,

anyway

give that man a fi.......

uhhhhhh

Give that man an interesting slice of pizza!!!!

Over to you!
