Joystick Calibration

Hello, Mr Puds here again, now with even more questions! Well, just one: is there any documentation or a tutorial for joystick calibration? I found my trusty cheapo Saitek, lubed it up (yes, silicon lubricant, shoplifted from Halfrauds for some car stuff but never got around to using) but the default settings seem a bit creaky. Full disclosure, this is the stick I used to hammer the goddamn Rebel Alliance with in another space sim, a long time ago, in a galactic map far far away, so it may have just seized up.
