Wormhole entry/exit effects

Post by Astrobe »

I press F2 just after exiting a wormhole the other day and noticed that the wormhole exit looks way better than the entry.

Is it possible to replace the entry effect with the exit effect?

There's a wormhole exit effect? Or are you talking OXP stuff - the BGS exit, perhaps?
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Ah, yes, It came to me that it might be a BGS enhancement. Indeed, the BGS exit is what I've seen.

So I'm afraid I have half of the answer. If the BGS authors didn't do it already there must be a technical reason?

The BGS exit effect is a bit of Svengali magic - a trick of some sort. Drop a post in the BGS thread, perhaps?

It is actually shader magic in the works, so non-shader system users will not be able to witness its glory.

You'd need to change the script. The current development version uses two effects, one for the entry and another one for the exit cloud. The entry effect takes the view direction into account and changes the passed values. So if you look back (F2) it mixes with the exit cloud (although not perfectly). The external views though won't give pleasing results, but it's just such a short effect...
