damaged equipment in the status screen
In scraps I keep getting various bits of equipment damamged, but I could never remember what got hit. So I thought I'd make damaged kit visible in the status view, here's the result...
This is what comes of me downloading the code and having a play with it, I get ideas.
If this is seen as a good idea how do I go about making this (and the nav thing I've done) available to everyone else who wants it? Can I just commit it to SVN?

Could you do it as an OXP, by having an equipment.plist in some way?
Really like the idea, but realeasing a new EXE is a bad idea (some people are running Daji's planets exec branch) and also it means when Giles does a new version, people have to choose between getting the new features Giles has put in or keeping your mod.

It's a very good idea for damaged equipment to show up on the status screen during gameplay.
Another improvement would be the ability to hyperspace from the galactic map or other status screen during flight, IIRC this was possible in Classic Elite, but in Oolite it is only possible from your in flight screen.

Did anything ever come of this? This would be a really great addition.cmdr drayton wrote:In scraps I keep getting various bits of equipment damamged, but I could never remember what got hit. So I thought I'd make damaged kit visible in the status view, here's the result...

yup, I'm still here!
I did this ages ago, so I imagine the code base has moved on a bit, but I'm sure its' mergable. So how should I go about this? Can I check the code into SVN or would you rather I sent you the changes in some other way?

Hooray! I would love to see this! Does not even have to be standard equip (i.e., I'd be happy if it was a purchased add-on at certain tech-level shipyards), but then again it does seem like it should be a standard status check in the age of space travel (we even have "idiot lights" on our cars).dajt wrote:I'd be happy to stick this in the JavaScript branch. That one should compile up on a Mac more easily than the textured planets branch.
So if the original author is still visiting, PM me and we'll organise how to get the code over to me.
I only wish I knew thing 1 about coding, 'cause then I would offer to help.
