next ship?

Post by booser »

Hi folks, i've been played now for a while and have just got up to above average with the cobra 3 with all the goddies on. My question is what do people think my next ship should be?

All the best guys,

How much do you have to spend (factoring in your Cobra's trade-in value)?

There are several good ships to choose from and it basically comes down to your own preferences and the OXPs that you have installed...

Do you have any ships that you are mainly thinking of?

My first upgrade from the Cobra 3 was a Josher... it's not as fat as a Cobra, but it's still agile enough to dog-fight with, and it's built like a tank. It has a small front cross section too, making you a little harder to hit head on.

Started a new captain last week, and am currently flying a Llama. I know spec-wise it's identical to the Cobra, but I prefer shadier occupations to straight trading so it doesn't bother me. Besides, it's so damned pointy ya gotta love it...

Supercobra is too 'uber' for me... I think the Cobra Courier is the best ship in the game. Everything else is either too big and slow, or too small and fast, or just unbalanced and out of game 'kilter'.

What I really want is a 'Millenium Falcon'

Cheers,

Drew.

Duck and hide, because there's now a lot of rather nasty ships flying around...

I like pythons and for playtesting purposes, I fly a racing adder.
No cargo and only one pylon, but speed a-plenty and small enough to dodge lasers and plasmafire.

The blackdog-python seems a bit underpowered though, as it cannot survive a single missile impact on full shield strength with boosters and extra energy bank installed.
While the NPC-pythons repeatedly survive them. :(

Corellian is even more 'uber' than SC - too much cargo with that speed..

Well, sure, but on the other hand it's so big it's easy for the pirates to hit. And it doesn't seem to have much in the way of shields, either.

For me it's got to be s fully kitted out Cobra Mk3. The original and still the best. I'm not really a purist but some of the newer ships make the game too easy. I tried and removed the uber ships from my install and the Star Wars ships. Being blown to bits now and again is good character building stuff. At the end of the day combat is about skill and a bit of luck....

I like the Original Mk 3 Cobra too, but its exterior views look really, well, bland. If the camera could be moved away slightly and a bit more texture or colour added I'd go back to her. :)

My only complaint about the Cobra MkIII is the cargo space. I'm having trouble *affording* a new ship on ~1500 credits / run. To make more, I need to carry more goods. And I can't even get shipping contracts.
