Maybe your savegame store something old? If I start a new commander the name and cost show well. I brokeded it, somehow:
This is from Miner Cobra v1.3 from the download manager.
It would appear to be that the definition of color on line 176 is commented out.
I'm running the 64-bit windows version of Oolite that I downloaded over the weekend.
