I'd like to post a few fiction recs to the Fanlore page on Oolite

So... if people would like to rec a few stories (not by themselves!) that might be worth reading I'll pick through and find four or five that look like they'll be useful - I'm basically looking for stories that feel right for the Oolite universe, give some idea of its flavour, and hopefully will be a good starting point for readers. Preferably not so technical that someone without much familiarity will feel completely out of their depth.

Dylan Smith's "The Virtuous Misfortune" definitely deserves a mention. The link on the wiki is dead, though: the best place to get it is probably from the Alien Items collection (which is also a good place to find other stories).
