As an example, I was running this lot across the chart the other day. Mind you, my courier rep is pretty high.

And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

n00b commander here: I've tried to get into cargo contracts, mail, and passenger hauling several times. But the money/time ratio involved always seemed to pale in comparison to plain vanilla trading (with the cargo upgrade for Cobra Mk III, a single roundtrip between Rich Industrial and Poor Agricultural worlds can nab ~2K credits profit). Do the payouts for those missions ramp up quickly after you have done them for a while?
Welcome to the main station, Commander n00b! (Checks name card.) I mean... bitsai! Eh-heh. Um, yes, being a parcel courier is a pretty good gig once you get some reputation going! Good income and no cargo space needed, so you can go with a very small and agile ship!

Oh, say, Cody, what's the oxp that's displaying your actual numerical bounty on the mission screen, there? I know your 'Courier Rank' is from an edited version of Display Reputation...

A couple of regularly played commanders:

James Toohey (deadly) cmndr of 'Toohey's Brew' - trader, part time pirate hunter, part time smuggler (if the price is right), part time covert navy operative (completed the Constrictor mission), reformed gem hoarder, willing to rescue a fellow trader in distress, making a living in Chart2 at the moment

Cmndr Kilian Hennessey (competent) cmndr of 'Kyrios') - trader/courier, tow truck, RRS contractor, bounty hunter by default but tries to avoid combat situations, rock hermit equipment supplier, almost squeaky clean, could be a better courier but gets distracted too often doing 'quick' jobs on the side, making a good living in Chart1

As I stated on the previous page, I have so far been playing as a trader and small package courier.

Once I have completed my current parcel runs (only 2 deliveries left), I am thinking of trying out an experiment in piracy.
Here's the plan... buy nothing but equipment. All my fuel will be taken by star skimming and all my commodities will be gained through liberating other vessels of their cargo.

Looking at those parcel contracts, it's your elite rank that gets you those contracts.

I got max courier rank also, but am dangerous / 1100ish kills and highest parcel contract i can do is around 5k .

I fly from outer rim to t'other, through the core systems, along the path of greatest resistance. I have room for two going the long haul, pick up odd jobs along the way, and do some trading when it is profitable. All the interesting stuff, of course, happens between the worlds.

Yeah, it's a hangover from extended testing of the Green Gecko. I got so used to seeing five banks that I never reverted.
It's more pleasing to my eye, and the extra energy is handy - I ain't as good as I once was! <grins>

When I switched to a later Griff model, I dropped Rolling Thunder into a sun and ejected.

That's kind of a shame. If ships could talk then that one would have a retirement career on a speaking circuit! Then again, that may not be the most fitting end...

Interestingly enough, I'm not really getting any richer. The repair bills and the income seem to balance out, over time. But that's ok..

Don't you Cmand's have Gal Navy installed? Dock with their station an buy bonds to get discount on equipment and repairs + free fuel. No idea how many bonds required for max discount. Remember someone saying that with the newer versions it's a max 50%. I have a much older version running and it tells me 75% dicount.
Heck of a saving on consumibles like Military Missiles and the such. Not to mention the Maintenance Overhauls.
Also always have top tech level gear for purchase.
Can't imagine how much I've saved just on keeping my military Iron Ass plating at 100%

Courier contractor; Haven't done that in years. Had a middling rep and made decent dosh. Might be time to give it another go.. But then I do like the RH a lot. :D
LOOK OUT!!!
OOPS..
"Press Space" Commander
If you do not see "Press Space" more often than you want.. Your not trying!

Had it installed in the past, but it changed to much of the game.

Her Imperial Majesty's Space Navy looked very interesting, but appears to be stalled.

It's a ritual, every time I change ships - done it three times now.

If you can spend enough money then you can store your old ships in your personal ship museum in [wiki]Hyperspace Hangar[/wiki].

Viking funeral, eh? Or would that only be if you didn't eject first?

Still wondering what OXP you're using to display a numerical bounty on your missions page, Cody?

It's kinda fitting, ejecting at the last moment and watching your ship fall into a sun and explode.

That's [EliteWiki] Bounty Status by Thargoid.

Yeah, HIMSN had great potential!
