Tutorial

Post by derek »

Hi,

I am newbie to oolite on a Ubuntu system, which is running oolite 1.77.1

Is there a tutorial to run through all the controls, I can not find anything on my install.

Regards,

Derek

Hi, and welcome! I ain't a penguinista, but Oolite is now at version 1.82 - a penguin should be along soon to help.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Hi Derek, and welcome.
Firstly the repos are still well behind on version numbers - the current Oolite is v1.82 and I would suggest you update that ASAP. You can get the Linux version from Oolite.org.
The game should come with a reference sheet in the download which will tell you what does what, and there is plenty of advice around here (both good and bad!) for new players as well.
Feel free to ask - we're a notoriously friendly bunch.

Upgrading to version 1.82 will also give you exactly what you want: a tutorial. It is built into the game and takes you through all its aspects, from reading the HUD to combat tactics and docking. And you can of course always ask here, if something isn't clear enough after going though the tutorial run.

Also worth noting - v1.82 comes with an in-game Tutorial, available when you start a new Commander.

Hello derek and welcome to the board.
I will suggest, if you have not already done it, you uninstall Oolite 1.77.1 to avoid confusion while having 2 different Oolite versions concurrently installed.
