What are the Symbols in Short Range Chart !!?
I pressed F6 to get the the shourt range chart and by accident pressed the " I " key and got all these funny symbols. Does anyone know what these are or what they mean Is thery a a "legend" or a key for this. I believe some of them are Tech Levels, but the rest I dont know.
Im one of those who are totally lost if there is no "proper" manual with a game (as if one buys from a gaming shop) and happen to miss out on the nice features of the game/software...

The other symbols refer to the type of economy and the type of government at those planets. AFAIK there isn't a legend for these but they are fairly simple to work out, the economy being easier (IMO) to figure out then the government i.e. the more cogs the more industrial the planets economy is, the more plants showing the more agricultural.

I don't know an 'official' answer but I've always thought that the government types refer to the whole planets political structure, therefore the Earth today would be classed as a Multi Government. A planet classed as a Democracy would have solely Democratic governments.

You are almost correct. The government refers to the Global state.
The Earth as today would be classed as an unenlightened multi-government, prone to civil war.
"The planet Earth is well known for its inhabitants ingrained hatred for eachother and their love of archaic cricket."
A planet classed as Democracy would have ONE government, with multiple parties and elections. Or even an one-person-one-vote referendum-govt.
Global empires can be dictatorships or feudal depending on the level of enlightenment of the 'top-dog'.
Confederates are almost similar to a multistate, save for a powerfull global federation that keeps the provinces in line. (ie UN, with power.)
Corporate States are colonies run by corporations or other powerfull non-democratic organisations controlling the economy.
Following the rules is most important here, either by the Law or 'the Family'.
Anarchies are what results if governments collapse.
Characterised by quickly changing allegiances, extreme violence and paranoia.

Yes... Communist... ...or is that meant to be self-explanatory?
...heh, heh, heh... ...World Communism has come in a few shades - from 'State-owned Capitalist' to 'Enlightened Despotism' to 'Absolute Dictatorship' to Plutocracatic', none having a lot to do with communism...

..right on!
I'm sure THAT was what Marx had in mind when he wrote Das Kapita, not the rigid control freak states that have mainly infested the political arena!
Actually, curiously(?) enough, early Christian society came closer to true communism than almost anything anywhere since... (read Acts 2:42ff!!)
