notepad ++ leaves Sourceforge

Post by Rxke »

Notepad++ is a tool often used by Windows users to work on the Oolite scripts, so I thought it's worth mentioning here.... The standard notepad mangles your scripts, so use Np++ instead.

They seem *very* mad at SF

I generally use notetab pro which also works pretty well. There's a lite version which is pretty good and is free with no ads or nagware, and standard and pro versions; can't remember off-hand the differences between standard and pro, but I evidently thought it was worth paying the extra a few years ago. You can get free trial versions.

And I've run Notepad++ fine without any issues in Linux using WINE, so it's not just for Windows users 8)

So the consensus is that sourceforge is wrapping someone else's sausages in their own bad bacon?

The general consensus is to stay away from SourceForge and most other download platforms, and look for the authors' site instead.
