So I'm doing a document delivery, and I'm only a couple of systems away. The next jump is taking me into an Anarchy, where I figure I'll do a quick refuel stop and make the final (long) jump to my RV. I drop out of Witchspace and locate the fuel satellite. As I'm making my way there, I see a massive furball off in the distance. "Poor buggers," I think. There's no way I'm getting involved, as my shields could never stand up to that many. I'm just lining up to refuel when the threats start coming in over the comms. There's a wall of red lollipops breaking towards me. I nip into the satellite and anxiously wait for the fuel tanks to fill. Done! I gun the engine and take off as lasers dance around me like an 80's disco, firing back with my aft beamer, and my shields are pounded like a drum. "Hyperspace initiated - 15 seconds, Injectors damaged, Furs destroyed, 10, Fuel leak, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1." Starfield! Misjump!

"Where in the Ooniverse am I?"

Blam! Blam!

"Whut the ..."

Two of the little b'stards have followed me through the worm hole, an Asp and a Krait. They're well armed too. My aft shields are out, so I flip over and take them on. Eventually, I'm in the middle of a gently expanding cloud of debris, my mili-laser plinking as it cools.

I check the map to see where I am; interstellar deep space, about half-way to my destination, 3 LYs away. I have no fuel. I don't even know which way I need to go. I hope the litigants waiting for these court papers are companies, not people. The delivery might be a little late.

Happened to me yesterday

Thing is, I spend quite a while installing mods, testing, figuring this game out, settings, keyboard, configure joypad etc etc etc.

So, kids asleep, wifey in bed too, its night, but not late. Perfect. Time. For. Oolite.

I setup game, gonna leave Lave for good, register Name and Shipname, buy specialist cargo, take parcel order, all is good, now is the beginning of great adventure.
Exits station, turn away from docking lane, check instruments, initiate hyperspace, jumps and .... wooot

So, anyway to get away from the misjump, or is it game over?

It's not necessarily game over.
Wait and things might turn up.
Some you will not like.
With luck some you will.

What he said - and remember: short hyperspace jumps are safer* than long hyperpspace jumps, as you'll have more fuel in the tank if dragged into interstellar space.

Either [wiki]Interstellar_help_OXP[/wiki] or [wiki]Wormhole_restoration_OXP[/wiki] can help.

Wormhole Restoration adds some interesting gameplay - but as Venator implied, there is a core solution.

I once waited and sped around in hyperspace for a very long time. Never found anything usefull that would help me out. If you have to get somewhere, there is a very small chance to find it, without any scanner indicating towards it.

No need to go anywhere - keep fraggin' warships, and watch your scanner!

I have a new observation to share

I witchspaced into a system on an ITHA Escort contract following a Trader Boa.
The first I saw was this massive Exhibition between me and the target planet, and the Boa needing to go around them.
Then, second scanner check, I found two offenders, in the same time I found massive laser fire. Four police ships against those two offenders.
Ident on the offenders - Exhibition guards?!
Before I could even understand what was happening there, the first police vessel directly ran into the exhibition, vaporating itself and the ship it hit. Two seconds later, the other police ships destroyed the first offender, then they turned and let the other one alone.

Strange things happen in this Ooniverse

This is a feature of Gallery OXP, the guards are here to defend the exhibited ships from attackers and prevent the player to destroy them. Large exhibitions have more guards, this seems to be working well against pirates but increases the risk of collisions also. :)

Andromeda OXP causes a lot of bumps and a lot of orange appears on the scanner. I don't recall before the installation it caused the gallery to have problems.

But I do love hunting those ships down when I see it on the radar, no matter who is around :)

I was playing with the new 1.82 release last night - taking virgin Jamesons out, checking stuff, trying to evade the assassins at Begeabi. I did once, but a bunch of pirates turned-up just as I thought I was through. Anyway, having decided all was well with the vanilla build, I moved my OXPs into it, and took another virgin Jameson out. Parcel aboard and kibble in the hold, I jumped to Reorte. There were about half a dozen tags on the scanner, all around me - but they all remained yellow, much to my relief. Then I was suddenly taking very heavy fire from nowhere - my shields melted and the energy banks drained in seconds! I'd completely forgotten that the Green Gecko was amongst my OXPs - slaughtered, I was! That it should appear on a virgin's first flight rather surprised me - and some! <face/palm>

Question for Devs: do the same four parcel contracts always appear at a virgin's Lave for every player? I presume yes!

<nods> Begeabi is a hell-hole for a Jameson - worse than Riedquat!
