In-game Download Files

Post by Huntress »

Okay, here's a question... when you download expansion packs from the in-game menu, where do their files go?

In Windows, here: ~:\Oolite\oolite.app\GNUstep\Library\ApplicationSupport\Oolite\ManagedAddOns
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

After re-booting Oolite I was wondering why everything looked different, and was missing some features that I already had. Thought I saved everything onto my USB before my computer crashed, but apparently not. All my in-game downloads are lost, and now it's going to take forever to get it back to normal!

Figured it was connected to that thumb-drive - but what limits you re-downloading, time or bandwidth? Or simply the sheer number of OXPs?

Well, originally it would just take a long while to download the OXPs, because I had quite a few installed. But now I have another problem: my school turned off the Wi-Fi and I don't have Internet at home, so I have to wait to go to the library in a larger town where there's free Wi-Fi to download the OXPs, and will only have a short time to do it. I could just download it off the Internet with a USB, but it takes too long and requires too many extra steps. <sigh>
Oh well, though. I guess I can rough it until I have the resources. :(

<nods> Harsh! As you say though, you can rough it for a while - and Oolite doesn't need OXPs to be enjoyable.

Sorry to hear that Huntress. At least you now know where they are, so you can back-up the next lot.

Thanks for your concern, guys. Just gonna have to go and copy every single darn thing if it's the last thing I do (which I hope it's not). :)
