Fat Bottomed Boas - StarQueen

Post by SteveKing »

Welcome back to the Late Shift. You’re listening to the Milky Way Kid on Lave’s favourite sub-aether comms station ‘Jameson2084.oo4’. Coming up, a back catalogue hit from one of the more influential bands to come out of the Old Worlds last century.

In entertainment news recently; Plasteel Maiden have just finished a punishing tour of the eight with their metal buddies ExoOdus. Back in the studio again, they’ve released a couple of singles from their upcoming split album. Check them out out here.

The big news over the last few months was that DC-AC’s drummer, Phil Crudd was remanded for allegedly financing a contract hit on, rumour has it, a high school head, someone double dealing' with his best friend and an old lady that he wanted gone for nagging' at him night and day who drove him nuts. Maybe he didn’t have the guts because the charges were dropped. A spokesman for DC-AC has said that Crudd will be replaced by the cleaner actions of Crisp Splade for their upcoming tour.

And now, a flashback to last century when glam bands were just starting to make their mark in the eight. Philosophy Researcher Ed Mercury headed up a college band started by keen astronomy student Brian May who was looking for a way to see the stars without using a telescope. Of course we’re talking about the mega band StarQueen. Here’s one of their early hits from their JoOz set

Fat Bottomed Boas
Are_ you gonna take me home tonight
Ah_ flash that Ingram laser light
Are_ you gonna let it all hang out
Fat bottomed Boas make the other ships go round

Hey! I was just a Jameson
Never knew no deep space home
But I knew love before I left my planets sun
Hitched a ride on big fat Lola
She was such a gorgeous Boa
Out in witchspace, yeah you seduced another one

Hey hey! I've been saving up my creds
‘Cause I wanna turn some heads
I've flown every iron assed spaceship on the way (hey)
But their beauty and their style
Got kind of dull after a while
Take me to them big, bold Boas every time

C'mon!
Oh_ won't you take me home tonight?
Oh_ flash again that Ingram light
Oh_ and you give it all you got
Fat bottomed Boas push them little ships around
Fat bottomed Boas push them little ships around

Hey listen here!
Now I got passengers and goods
And I got contracts on the books
Ain't no Fer-de-Lance in this locality (I tell you)
Oh, but I still get my pleasure
Blasting pirates for their treasure
Heap big Boa you done made commander out of me

Now get this!
Oh_ (I know), you gonna take me home tonight (please)
Oh_ still blasting out that laser light
Oh_ you gonna hold it all in tight
Fat bottomed Boas are the hottest ships around
Fat bottomed Boas are the hottest ships around
Get in your Kraits and fly

Ooh, yeah, oh, yeah, them fat bottomed Boas
Fat bottomed Boas, yeah, yeah, yeah,
All right, ride 'em space cowboy
Fat bottomed Boas, Yes, yes, right

<applauds> Excellent work! Hope we get some more of StarQueen's hits soon.. 8)
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Working on it. But a quick question you might be able to answer easily (but is more one for Cody when he's around). Did (Cody's character) Coyote spend time as a Bounty Hunter/Hit Man. I was going to re-read Coyote's Run, but the site was(is) down this afternoon.

Cody has something of a dislike for bounty hunters.. so I'd say the answer is probably 'no'.

Contrabandista was more Cody's style at the time Coyote was written..

Ok, I'll look at some more Oofic. I looking for a fictionally well known BH or Hit Man. I'll have a browse of Malacandra's Sidewinder Precision Pro. But Coyote and brim (of his hat) worked well for me. Derik is a little too full on for the song - a more heavy rock/metal personality :D
