Yeah, it's not reliable. I just tried it again... Started with 5 unread emails, went to F3 & bought 2 items, went to F4, it said 7 unread emails. ("Er, it's working now. How strange.") Went back to F3, bought another item, on F4 it still said 7 unread emails. ("Huh, now it's not?"). Opened and exited the email system then it said 8 unread emails...phkb wrote:Wildeblood, not sure what's happening there. When I do what you describe, I have three new emails waiting as soon press F4. I'll keep looking though.

Right. I'll do some more analysis and get back to you. At least the emails are arriving...

Wildeblood, are you a Linux, Mac or Windows user? I'm wondering if that might make a difference.

Re: Email System (Release)
Sorry, it looks like I've raised a false alarm here. I cannot reproduce this problem today after removing several other OXPs, but equally I cannot find a particular one among those that was causing the problem. Chock this one up to "Mysteries of the Internet", I think.
Your changes to the inbox make email much quicker to use; but would it be possible to make the inbox screen (not when viewing individual messages) interruptible so we could exit by pressing F4 without scrolling to the exit email option?

OK, version 1.4.3 is up, which allows you to exit the inbox with any function key.
Re: Email System (Release)
I may have found another small bug or two.
I docked at Laenin's A-stromine Penal station without docking clearance (simply forgot.. gah). I was fined the neckbreaking sum of 3.9 Cr. The email says I am fined 3.890000000000000000006 Cr. (don't count the number of zeros... )
Also, the email is signed by:
Nuon Ar
Rock Hermit: Reggie's Flacon Duty Officer.
(Mind you: Rock Hermits usually don't need clearance )

Replace the use of toString() with toFixed(1) when concatenating strings and numbers to form the message.QCS wrote:I docked at Laenin's A-stromine Penal station without docking clearance (simply forgot.. gah). Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Re: Email System (Release)
Version 1.4.4 has been released. In this version:
- Fixed grammar issue with bounty emails in Interstellar space.
- Added some more exams to the new pilot registration email
- Fixed decimal number issue with docking fines and other places.
- Fixed issue with docking fines at some stations, where the wrong name was showing in the duty officers email signature.
Re: Email System (Release)
Hey
I really like the email system, and have a couple of suggestions :
1) How about sending an email when getting Cargo, Passenger Parcel contracts?
Reason : I just had a passenger leaving my ship for no apparent reason. I wished I could double check his time schedule.
Also for immersion.
2) "Archive it!" Sends email to archive, where it wont expire, but also is "out of the way" for normal screen. Adds a new menu "Archive".
Reason : Because I like to archive stuff. My personal email have 12746 archived emails. I archive spam too

The contracts should already be creating emails for Oolite 1.81, a lot harder to do for Oolite 1.80 though.
