Unfortunately we appear to have lost Leonard Nimoy

Post by ClymAngus »

To use the name he was so closely associated with would do a disservice, to a versatile actor and deeply philosophical mind.

Characters live until their creator, or those who have inherited control over them, say they should end.

Actors bring those characters to life.

We have lost a man who made a corner stone of science fiction popular culture "live". These men come along but once in a life time, his passing will be deeply felt and missed.

Rest well sir. For you work has broaden our horizons.

In addition to Star Trek, Nimoy appeared in The Twilight Zone, Mission: Impossible, THEM!, The Brain Eaters, Sea Hunt, The Outer Limits, Get Smart, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., and Night Gallery.
I knew he'd appeared in most of those, but had no idea that he had a tiny part in THEM! - a movie which frightened the hell out me when I was kid!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

He also played the villain role in one episode of Columbo. Just happened to be one of me Dad's favourite telly programs.

Adieu, Captain Spock!

And, of course, once seen, who could ever forget his performance of The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins?
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

I'll also mention his delightful presence in the Fringe series as William Bell.
Rest in peace!

Yes, I remember 'In Search Of...'

May he rest in peace and his Katra live long and prosper in us all
