Is there a texture variant for the Blackdog Python?Smivs wrote:... the Sidewinder for example has two versions specified in shipdata, but only one texture so I thought it might be nice to 'fill in the gaps'...

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Yes, there are three Pythons, the 'standard' one, a Trader variant and the Blackdog. The Python is the only ship with a dedicated pirate version in the original set.Cody wrote:Is there a texture variant for the Blackdog Python?Smivs wrote:... the Sidewinder for example has two versions specified in shipdata, but only one texture so I thought it might be nice to 'fill in the gaps'...
The original set has separate textures for all shipdata definitions except the Cobra 3 pirate, the Sidewinder Escort and the Viper Pursuit. These three shared a texture with another variant. My aim is to give these three unique textures as well, which I am doing in the same style as Giles' originals.
To complicate matters further, the current shipdata also adds three more variants - pirate versions of the Anaconda, Boa and Boa2. These currently share the same texture as the standard version, but I am likely to do new textures for them as well.
My aim is to release a couple of associated OXZs to this shipset soon, one of which will be a Variey Pack, adding more textures of some of the ships for more variety. Eventually there should be two or three textures for most ship-types with some having up to five different paint-jobs. This should mean that as well as several Trader versions, you will occassionally also come across a pirate version of the ships with a dedicated pirate texture.

Re: [WIP] Classic Ships
Progress Report
All the extra textures are now done and in the OXZ, and in the course of doing these I have also made good inroads into the images needed for the proposed Variety Pack complementary OXZ. This is the one that will add lots of extra textures to the range of ships - I have a second Anaconda, Boa and Boa2 so far, plus a fourth Cobby III with more to follow. The main news here though is that the full set is now done for the main Classic Ships OXZ.
I have also started testing with trunk and have spent the last couple of days sorting out deprecations - I had no idea how long updating the sub-entities to the new style would take! That's all done now anyway, and there are no log errors in v1.81 which is great news.
All being well release should be only a few days away.
