"Fast Activation" Primable Equipment

Post by CommRLock78 »

Sorry, but seriously??!! Is there a way to disable this 'feature' in 1.81?
This feature started in 1.8x (?), but in short:
TAB == 'offensive' fast action primable
0 == 'defensive' fast action primable.

If you set the fast activation to energy bomb on Tab (or nothing on Tab if you don't have the energy bomb OXP installed), and cloaking device on 0, you'll get exactly the same behaviour from those keys as in previous versions. Those are the default settings anyway.

You can also choose (via F4) to bind no equipment to either key - or, for a more permanent solution, modify your keyconfig to bind both keys to something which doesn't exist on your keyboard.

Just curious: What exactly is the problem with the feature?

Cool - yeah, I figued that out, after a few minutes of frustration...

I guess the big problem is it makes those buttons, particularly the '0', no longer 'hard wired' in their keybidings... It's not that much of problem now that I have it figured out though ;).

Since I'm on the topic of 1.81, I've noticed some serious changes to how NPCs respond to the cloaking device. I'm actually okay with them continuing their persuit, but it seems to me like there's no longer even a difference between being cloaked and uncloaked. And that I'm not okay with... they should at least have more trouble hitting me, esecially a Caddy with it's engines shut down.
Screw all that - I'm loving the changes! Thank you all you fellas - OXPers and developers. It's been great to back in the pilot seat 8) 8) 8)
