Why not just bypass the manager altogether? Grab the OXZ from the wiki download link, extract it and give it a .oxp extension and pop it in AddOns.

Cuz da Wiki sez dis:
Version 1.10.2 (~100 MB) by Little Bear/Eric Walch/Spara. Requires shaders, plus a faster computer as this adds a lot of updated graphics, hence the monster download.

Get it from the expansion manager.

Version 1.4.18 (13.0 MB) by Little Bear/Eric Walch. Requires Oolite v1.75 or newer.

Download (Eric Walch's box account)
Where is the download link?

Ah, OK. Most OXZs have a direct download link on the wiki page, maybe this one doesn't. :(
Sorry.

All actual OXZ download links are in the new oxz list, click on the icon in the last column.

My point is this - if you change the expansion manager in future versions, could you still make it possible for people like me to get at the OXZs please? ie don't encrypt them or anything like that.
We certainly are not going to do anything like that!

The next version of Oolite has a few extra expansion manager features, but they're all to make it easier for people to get at the OXZs, not harder.
- you can filter the OXZ list (including things like "find all OXZs updated in the last week")
- if you're missing dependencies, it will tell you and offer to get them for you
- you can unpack any OXZ into an OXP in your AddOns folder automatically.

And OXZs will always be available for manual download and install too.

(But yes, if you have your own addon manager programme, it's still probably going to be more convenient to download them yourself)

There's no consensus on how and where download links should be available and TBH, it's surprisingly laborious to maintain multiple links in different places. Especially with a large number of oxp to maintain. So I made a personal decision some time ago not to maintain links anywhere but the expansion manager.

For quite some time, I've been getting mine straight from the page Norby linked. I like to keep them in AddOns so that I can easily enable and disable them as needed. Then again my needs are probably a little different than average player's which I think the in-game manager serves brilliantly.

Thanks Cim.

I agree the expansion manager is good for players who don't want to tinker under the bonnet.

Anyway, back on topic...

That might make for a useful feature for some people.. a way to disable/enable individual OXZs from within the manager, rather than having to uninstall, then re-downloading and installing again.
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

The problem there is that it is not obvious the download links are there, because that last column is not labelled. I previously assumed that downward arrow referred to sort order (a-z or z-a) of the table, and only discovered the download links by accident one day.

Hola LittleBear - has something been changed to the behaviour of the mark? I've been back and forth down this spacelane nearly a dozen times and haven't seen the turd. Usually if I don't seem them the first time down the lane I catch them on the way back to the witchpoint marker. Not sure if I've ever had to look this hard for a medium bounty before.... not sure it's worth the ~3000 Cr. :|

I think I prefer OXP format, too - but the new manager is a cool idea for those that don't want to manually do things.

Hello CommRLock78. I'm responsible for the latest changes/bugs. No changes in positioning the mark from the previous versions. Either you're being unlucky or there's a bug lurking somewhere. Are you using the latest version (1.10.2) of RH? Are you using Oolite 1.80 or 1.81? What ship is the mark flying? Anything relevant in the log?

Heya Spara, thanks buddy - sorry about the lack of details. I'm rolling with Oolite 1.81 and RH 1.10.2. Here's the log. The mark is flying an 'unregistered' Ghavial (not familiar with that ship, I don't think). Anyway, I also installed the RH Resources.

Edit: Looking over the log, I can see one thing clearly - there's no shortage of deprecated stuff :P

Just took a look at your log and looks like you've got a lot of deprecated stuff there that will mess things up. Did not see anything about the Ghavial though, but I'll check it out when I've got a little more time. One thing that will mess things up is Griff's old replacement set. You'll want to get rid of that as it's in conflict with the current roles. Download Griff's new individual ships instead, they have correct roles defined.

Hmmm, having trouble with box.com - I'm wondering if I should just start from scratch with the manager for all the addons since so much has changed. Where does stuff get installed when you install from the manager? I installed RH from there, but I couldn't find where it was located (the trunk is installed in my home folder). I noticed there's a new format, OXZ, but I can't tell where it goes once installed.
