Just been doing a bit of testing and found a strange thing.
On a couple of occassions a trader who I forced to eject sent two more or less simultaneous comms messages, one from the escape capsule and also one from the (now deserted) derelict ship. This doesn't seem right to me - is this intentional?
Edited to add:-

Manned derelicts?

Re: Manned derelicts?
If they were sent in the order "ship, then escape capsule" then that's possible - though escape capsules I don't think have any comms messages defined in general. If they were sent in the other order that's unusual.Smivs wrote:Just been doing a bit of testing and found a strange thing.

Information which may be relevant to debugging:
- which order were the messages received in?
- do you have Comms Pack A installed (or another OXP with similar functionality)?
- what message did the escape capsule send?
- was the escape capsule OXP or core? If OXP, which one?
Thanks

Re: Manned derelicts?
Yes, ship then capsule. The screeny tells the tale. I'm pretty sure the pilot had ejected before either message arrived, but it is conceivable that the ship sent the message immediately before ejection and the capsule message was immediately after ejection.
All standard core stuff except the spawned 'derelictTest' ship which is just a re-named normal Boa which I'm using to test the 'ship going derelict' feature I'm carrying over from the old shipset to the Classic ones. I'm checking the scripting which kills the hull lights and engine glow etc works - nothing to do with making the ship derelict (which is done the Old Fashioned way ), or the escape capsule which is standard.

If you grazed the escape pod with your laser as it launched, you could get that sequence of events.
Surrender messages are priority 3, which means that they won't be sent if the sending ship has sent or received a message in the last ten seconds. However, the escape pod is a new ship, so if there was one sent just before launch, it won't know about that and will send one immediately on being attacked.

Re: Manned derelicts?
TBH that's unlikely, just because of what I was doing, basically staying right behind the target ship so I could monitor the engine behaviour. Does the escape capsule use the 'aft_eject_position'?cim wrote:If you grazed the escape pod with your laser as it launched, you could get that sequence of events.
This happened two or three times in quick succession which suggests it is not a unique event, although of course all the situations were very similar.
It just struck me as a bit odd at the time, but is unlikely to be a concern in normal play.
