Just a warning
Check your bindings before you go into combat.
Half of mine had been reset to different things by the changes

Yes indeed! All those additions seem to work fine, anyway!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

I can't seem to unset the hat switches - re-assign yes, but not unset.

What about other buttons? Can you try again after renaming your .GNUstepDefaults to something else (you will have to set it up all from scratch)?

All other buttons seem to unset fine - I'll go check that suggestion.

With a virgin .GNUstepDefaults
the problem persists - exactly the same (1.81).
I'll have to install 1.80 from scratch - back in a while!
<creates parallel Ooniverse>
The problem appears to be exactly the same in Oolite 1.80 (virgin install).

In this case, I'd like to know whether others have the same issue too or this is only on your joystick setup. It will be a nasty one to debug without having an actual joystick to test with.

<nods> For the record, I'm using a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro (though I doubt whether that has any bearing on it).
I'd not even tried the hat switch in 1.80 before today - the four views are not ideal on the hat (for me).

I can confirm the same effect on the same joystick with 1.81. Will check 1.80 when I've docked.
Edit: Confirmed, the same behaviour with 1.80

Looks like it was just a little copy/paste error. You should be able to unset hats (and any button beyond #16 in general) with commit
181d1b5 .

Ok, I've finally got around to downloading the latest update and I can now set the buttons on my joystick to do Zoom/ Unzoom, thanks
When will this change be incorporated in the main version?

What is now the development version (Oolite 1.81x) will become the next release version - Oolite 1.82 (I think). When? <chortles>

How long is it usually between releases? I saw the changes to the joystick configs and thought, hmmmm very handy.
