Hmmm.. how about a trigger, if you win too much, you are getting hassled by thugs, either thrown out of the station or attacked outside the station after leaving?

I like that a lot of the old OXPs get some love. :D Thanks!

A new version 1.3.2

* New gambling game: hOopy Hold'em. Thanks to CaptSolo for the nice background image for the card.
* Docking bay was a bit too dark and has been lightened up.
* Market stripped to gems, gold and platinum with 0 quantities. In 1.80 prices follow the main station rules. In 1.81 prices are 10% below the main station prices. In other words the market is solely meant for exchanging valuables to play credits, with 10% commission.
* AI rewitten to JS. Casino now cruises around the main station at the edge of the Aegis.

Download: https://app.box.com/s/v6gbc5ubv4zecygtuutt

Now I think it's about done. Maybe a little bit more testing to fish out possible bugs, but then it's ready for the manager. I'm still not aware of the current key master though :( .

Big thanks for all comments, this has been a fun project :D . I'm trying to keep this close to the original while fixing things that feel wrong. I have chosen the placement to be close to the main station as the original did too. Main station provides some extra protection for the casino. How ever the stationary one felt a bit boring, so I made it cruise around the station. It feels much better now, it's a bit like those casino ships that cruise the seas.

The market is now in practice removed. You can only sell Gems, Platinum and Gold there to get some more credits to play.

Have fun and please report any oddities. If some of the games misbehaves, please take a screenshot so that I can replicate the problem.

I'm suggest you send cim a pm, i'm 99% sure he is able to change ownership of the manifest.plist entries for the OXZ manager (atleast he transferred ownership of shieldcycler oxz entry to me on my request a while ago).

Except that I forgot to include station communication to the new AI . Those will be back in the next (and hopefully final) version.

Sure, cim can do it alright. I just don't want to step on anyones toes here. If no one steps forward, then I'll do that.

You've done a terrific job, Spara. I love all the new games and I like how the Casino Ship is now cruising about, but does come to a stop to allow for safe docking. Many thanks.

Glad you like it :D . It feels so natural for the casino to cruise around the main station that it might just have been the original (now lost) intent. The AI needs more work, but after that it's done. Maybe just one more game... just kidding  .

Wiki will need some rewriting when this is finished and in the manager. I hope someone with proper literate skills is willing to do that.

I'm really starting to like having Hoopy casinos about, not really made any money though
I tend to be flying around with passengers, and was wondering if the casinos could offer an inducement to those of us with passengers to bring them in, if they can afford to fly across the galaxy, perhaps they can afford to play some games of chance :D

Sure. There is a free bottle of Evil Juice waiting for you in the bar the next time you visit the Casino  .

There seems to be a couple of extra characters in the download url. I pm Eric about it.

I have no idea why the link is not working.

The first is the link I copied from the wiki and the second line is copied from the one I filled in in the manifest:

Code: Select all

http://wiki.alioth.net/img_auth.php/b/bc/Hoopy_casino_1.3.3.oxz

http://wiki.alioth.net/img_auth.php/b/bc/Hoopy_casino_1.3.3.oxz‎
The first starts a download in a browser and the second gives an access error. Anyhow, I copied the first line in the manifest and hope this now works.

EDIT: even when copied from the lines above, only the first line starts a download. But I still fail to see the difference. :?

There are an url-encoded utf8 newline character at the end of the second url. More info.

I wonder where that character is coming from. As I originally could not copy the link from the wiki, I typed the whole string by hand when updating the manifest.

Probably I did hit the return key when ready while the cursor was still in that entryfield.

In case someone is wondering the difference between 1.3.2 and 1.3.3, the newer version has a completed station AI, advertising and everything.

Eric, I can see the extra characters by hovering the mouse over the download link at the "Oolite Expansion Packs" -page.
