Star Wars - The Force Awakens

Post by ffutures »

The first trailer for the next Star Wars film is on line

http://moviepilot.com/posts/2014/11/28/ ... ual,manual

It looks good, with some nice touches such as the use of X-wings and TIE fighters at low altitude.

Prepare for the squee-ing!

That sword is ridiculous. Have you ever see any weapon more likely to maim its owner rather than his enemy?

My thought too. I can't see how you can avoid mutilation using it in a fight.

i get the point of a crossguard but short light sabres? far too easy to maim yourself... more trouble than they are worth.

a Light Longsword ??????

oh, you...

The trailer makes me hope this will be a real Star Wars film. I always said, I believe, Disney can make it work because they know how to give their customers what they want, and this trailer looks damn promising. I am happy.

I agree, these crossguards ARE totally stupid and would probably be more a hinderance, than a usefull addition. But they are not the only thing in this trailer

Well, I can kind of see the logic in it.. if the cross-guard was made of anything else, presumably, it wouldn't be able to stop your opponent's lightsaber..

And who knows.. maybe in the film the guy does do himself a nasty injury with it!

Silly voice over, silly sword, silly droid (even for Star Wars). Too much CGI, daft low altitude flight, though nice to see the MF, TFs and XWs again.

This is not the Star Wars I'm looking for and I have a bad feeling about this.

Cheers,

Drew.

i loved the original 3 movies, i even was ok with the "updated" versions where they went back and added more cgi to fill out the crowd as it were...

must admit i have only seen the first of the 3 new movies....... just never seem to have the inkling to sit down and watch...

i do remember back in the day there was rumour that there were 9 movies in the wind and the ones we saw were the middle three...

damn even with an Australian dictionary in firefox it still tries to make me spell things "the american way" (rumour)

I agree entirely about the sword, but there's more to the trailer than that. This looks like they've taken on board some of the lessons from Battlestar Galactica, Serenity, etc. in filming techniques. We'll just have to see what comes out at the end of it.

Well I can understand the point of the sword. No more chopping hands off! But it does look a little bit silly.

To be honest, I think this meme sums it up for a lot (but not all) people:

Image

It happened with the prequel films, which everyone admited were terrible compared to the originals, and it will happen with these.

looks like a few people dont think the sword is a good thing..... that was only 1 of many parodies of the original shot...
