Currently I'm running Oolite v1.80 with the Smivs v4 HD Replacement shipset (modified to give Atomic Annie her hull markings and artwork in a 'player Anaconda') and the Griff Addition v1.2.2 shipset carried over from previous versions. Everything is working with respect to the ship model displays, but I'm noticing performance issues around when I load a player ship or when performing a witchpace jump and I'm wondering whether my old v1.77 shipset OXPs might be contributing to it.
Now that v1.80 has the Griff models as standard, would there be any performance benefit in my dropping the Griff shipset and swapping the Smivs Replacement shipset for the Addition one (and retweaking the Addition set for my player Anaconda)?

Hej Ranthe,
iirc the default ships in v1.80 are based on Captain Solo's noshader shipset of Griff's ships, which should be a bit lighter on aging hardware (just like mine, therefore my own noshader project), but lack all the bells and whistles like engine and laser heat, lightings, decals and different coloured paintjobs.
To get some more fps as well, consider reducing nebulas and star count, too. This helped me as well.

I don't think that works correctly with Oolite 1.80, but Griff has a core shipset (individual OXPs) for Oolite 1.80 here.Ranthe wrote:... and the Griff Addition v1.2.2 shipset carried over from previous versions.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

That would probably be the best bet. As Amah points out you will lose some of the high-end Griffy features, but the default Griff/Solo ships are very nice indeed and sit well with Smivs'Shipset. It should be much easier on your system though, and tranferring Atomic Annie to my 'addition' set should be straight forward.Ranthe wrote:Now that v1.80 has the Griff models as standard, would there be any performance benefit in my dropping the Griff shipset and swapping the Smivs Replacement shipset for the Addition one (and retweaking the Addition set for my player Anaconda)?
