Questions about OXPs in new version

Post by Madotsuki »

Hi! I haven't been here in forever, mostly because I haven't... really played Oolite in a while. It seems there's a whole bunch of new features, which is cool, and there's a whole new system for OXP installation, which is really neat!

I'm sort of worried, though, that some of these fancy OXPs I installed might interfere with new features. Also, some of the old OXPs I remember aren't in the list, which makes me confused as to whether they'll work with the new oolite without interfering with the new features, or whether they'll work at all.

So my questions are
1. Which OXPs in the in-game manager are known or likely to interfere with the new AI and world mechanics in the core game? It seems like the answer is "very few", but I'd still like to ask if anyone's had any trouble.

2. Will old OXPs in the old format screw anything up? I miss my hacker outposts, black monks, and space wars outside multi-government systems, and would like to add them back if it won't screw anything up.

As a side note, does anyone have any specific recommendations for OXPs that aren't in the manager (other than the ones I've listed)?

If they're listed in the in-game OXZ manager, they should be fine - and other/older OXPs will still work from the AddOns folder.

Two recommendations: Random Ship Names and GalTech Escape Pods.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Jeez, update. I eventually got around to going through my old OXP list, and I got to adding a dozen or so old OXPs that weren't updated to the new format. I'm gonna post the image of my folder as a sort of recommendation for anyone else who wants to know what good, un-updated OXPs are available. This is by no means a comprehensive list, though!

Hi,

you can check the Player recommendations lists of OXPs in the wiki.

Hello Madotsuki,

You might want to check [wiki]Anarchies Facelift[/wiki] and [wiki]Galactic Navy Additions[/wiki]. From GalNavyAdditions especially Galactic Navy Facelift, that fixes a couple of bugs and updates the models.

For Random Ship Names, check the tweak here: https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?f= ... 90#p221904.

Unless you're keeping it for the kit, Coyote's Run is broken.

It is? Damn, that's a disappointment. Hopefully the other OXPs still work. (assuming I even get to all of them)
