Thargoids with Queridium weapons?
I've been running with several Thargoid-related OXPs installed - Thargoid Wars, Extra Thargoids, Second Wave, Swarm, and Thargon Threat.
Last night I was fighting off an attack on a station when I noticed something odd was happening - someone else had apparently let off a Queridium weapon, a blue sphere was appearing (fortunately behind me and nearer the station). Needless to say I hit the fuel injectors fast and got out of there.
I'm not 100% sure what happened there, if it was one of the Thargoids or another human ship that dropped the bomb. Pretty sure it wasn't me since I've stopped using them. I've never seen this before in a LOT of play. Anyone got any ideas?

Do you have Cargo Wreck Teaser installed? It can generate fuel pods, which can then explode as a Q-bomb.

One of the Second Wave Thargon variants has been known to explode like a Q-mine

ShipVersion also award Quirium Cascade Mine to the top 1% of the ships.

And all this time I've been thinking it was only Random Hits that did that... looks like my Q-Bomb Detector might be more useful than I realised..
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Yes, I've got cargo wrecks teaser and second wave. And it belatedly occurs to me that I have star jellys installed, so it's possible a jelly larva drifted through the combat zone.
Not a problem, I got away OK and I've only seen it once in six months or more of having all of them installed.

The Extra Thargoids OXP might be responsible too: when 'Gruntbugglies' are on their way out, they have a tendency (by design) to go blue, as it were. Also, non-thargoid NPCs can, even in the core game I think, use Q-mines. Or at least standard NPCs can, given an OXP containing quirium missiles, use such missiles.

That could explain something - the time I rammed a gruntbugglie and died instantly! Hadn't realised that was what killed me.

Well, the 'bugglies, when dying, always release explosive shrapnel and sometimes become quirium blasts. So it might just have been the shrapnel (and would have been if you didn't, in the closing credits, so to speak, see a blue cloud). Or perhaps you were just going too fast!ffutures wrote:That could explain something - the time I rammed a gruntbugglie and died instantly! Hadn't realised that was what killed me.

Explosive shrapnel sounds most likely, didn't see the blue sphere of death.
