So, who's good at missile dodging? What's your technique. Using thrusters is not allowed for the purpose of this discussion cause that's too easy.

I've tried flying straight then turning to make it miss me, doing a continuous barrel roll, and doing a barrel roll one way then switching.

While the alternating barrel roll works for a bit, the missile still gets me in the end. I've never managed to dodge a missile without the use of thrusters.

In contrast, it seems that about 1/2 to 1/3 of the missiles I fire are successfully dodged by their targets.

there must be a knack that I'm just not getting

Now i shoot them with my rear laser and successfully evade with barrel roll, but only since i fly FdL NG ;-)

Yay, I successfully evaded two missiles. On full speed with full pitch. I rolled full left till the missile was on my left then full right etc ad missum explodum. It helps to zoom in with the scanner so you can see when to change direction.

I've tried shooting them out of the rear view but that's as close to impossible to do as something can be without actually being impossible.

Yes, it's just a question of luck hitting a missile with rear laser. It comes at great speed and turning in circle. When you try to collimate, it detects you are changing direction and corrects trajectory, putting immediatly laser beam in the center of the circle... And more, rear military lasers overheat in a few seconds.

If you have a Cobra (0.350 LS) just forget about this approach. :(

Also with my Imperial Courier (0.550 LS), I find it too difficult ( :!: )

It's an unbalanced ship, it will be definitely tuned down ;-)

The only non-dragster that does 0.6 is FdL NG. Note it has no missiles, no shield enhancements, 3 energy banks and 2t standard cargo (though expandable). And very poor pitch. And all that for 600k.

Incom? Should be Sienar Fleet Systems...

Incom makes the X-Wing, Correllian Engineering Corp. makes the YT1300, Koensayr makes the Y-Wing. SFS makes all of the TIEs

OK OK Sue me ,im not a starwars geek, although damn you your right and i admit it,i got confused with seing all the incom ships in the trade menu, and btw the TIE Interceptor does actually .555 LS and although it has 8 energy banks, it has no cargo space, but it makes a good ship for fragging Thargoids

I'm planning a ship that has seven or eight energy banks... but it'll cost 1,000,000CR and handle like a barn!
