I'm new to oolite, above average (13 kills till competent) and I have a couple of questions.
In the Galactic chart, what is the significance of the "Lanes" i.e. Lane 1 and Lane 2?
What is the white circle with the green dot positioned to the left of and exactly in between the roll and pitch bars?
Twice in the same system I was chasing down lone criminals and they got the opportunity to witchspace away. After they had done so I was mass locked until the witchspace bubble had left the scanner. Is this normal?
I'm being offered trumbles. I do not want trumbles. If I don't accept said trumbles will I be able to do other missions or is it a penance I will just have to take? Edit - final one: are trumbles an Oolite addition? I don't remember them from the Amiga version of the original.

Yes, that is normal.
No need to buy a trumble (and I believe the hateful things were in the C64 version).

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied
