Had an idea. A lot of fun ships come out in OXPs, often it can be VERY hard to actually find them for purchase.
How about an OXP (so that can be removed when not wanted) that creates a second station in a particular system that contains all OXP based ships?
Therefore, whenever you install a new ship, you can go to this station, test the ship out and see if you like it. If you don't you can remove it (although I tend to keep them all for a varied Ooniverse even if I am never intending to personally fly one).
One OXP to rule them all...

The act of talking b*ll*cks whilst waving one's arms about wildly is referred to as testiculation.

Nice thought.
If impractical, as the one making this OXP-shipyards has to continually update the shipyard.plist to accomodate 'fourth-party' OXPs.
Which is not a nice job.
Actually most OXP-ship builders have fantasies about their corporate/pirate shipyards in an asteroidbelt at "your_favorite_planet".
It would be nice to have a how-to for making a custom shipyard featuring your favorite oxp-specific ships at planet X.
Offcourse this would only be usefull for player buyable ships.
So start nagging those prolific shipbuilders to give you the location of their corporate HQ's!
hmmm... 2DOO: flesh out Gaundlet OXP!
Go build a Gaundlet Corporation distribution outpost with rows of idle ATT1's and Viper-A's.
Plus heavy Gaundlet associated traffic.
Maybe a small mission script for the player to help root out a particularly virulent group of pirates, by escorting a decoy ATT1 into an ambush.
Or Just plain escort duty.
Thanks for the inspiration!

Not just that, but have you actually checked the specs for a GenShip?CWolf wrote:Might take you a while as the whole point is that they have NO hyperdrive...

That was the original idea. They were constructed in space over many years, built already roughly in the right direction, then fine tuned into place with tug craft and sent on thier way.
AFAIK - by the time some of them got close to the systems they had been aimed at hyperspace travel had already been developed, other ships had also been developed and colonies were starting to form as the giant ships drifted by.
