I have a lot of oxps at the moment, and basically those that aren't there are either unbalanced ships or missions that are not relevant yet in my gaming career (I'll install them as I enter the particular galaxy where they are set in).

Pretty much everything that is stable and non-buggy. The more variety the better, it's a big old Ooniverse.
The act of talking b*ll*cks whilst waving one's arms about wildly is referred to as testiculation.

I only installed a couple of the ones with ships that seem closest to the original balance, and Draco's station for some variety.

I don't really have time to check out all the OXP's and I don't want to "ruin" the game, so I haven't installed any yet. Some look promising though.

However, if some were collected into an "official" expansion (i.e., pass muster for not ruining game balance, solid not buggy etc), I'd love to add some more ships, equipment and features for sure. I just don't have time to test them out myself :(

Man, I used to be a hardcore gamer too.. but life happens, eh?

Looks like almost all of them are quite safe. There are several uberships, but you can just don't buy those.

I have everything except Uber. And my ship is Fer-de-Lance NG.

How can I tell if they are "uber" ships before trying them out?

I've have all of Giles' OXPs installed, they match Oolite's look and feel (no surprise ;)) and are nicely balanced. Besides that, I also have one or two other ship OXPs... mainly ships that I want to fly, like FC's Llama and the shiny new Mosquito trader. Eagerly awaiting Sel's new Imperial Courier... the old one was a little unbalanced.

Aegidian's X-ships, Aegidian's Specials, the Behemoths, ,'New Ships', Python class cruiser, Griffin Two, and Pelamis. are pretty much 'official' because they were written by the Master himself.

Weeviloid hunter too, but you might consider that one a bit unbalanced. (It's more a demoship to show off farngible functionality)

I try to limit mine to 'Elite' like behaviour...

That said I have got the Courier, because it's cool and I like the mild audio sounds too.

I also have the tori, cobra_courier, behemoths, hoopy casino, lave, and gritty oxps along with some of the missions.

I played with the uber ships but removed them after a while.

Cheers,

Drew.

I don't think there are any unbalanced NPC ships ;-) Even Hydra is ok.

Hey, quick question, I took the plunge and installed a whole buncha ship OXPs, oldships, newships, yada yada yada.

Well now it seems that the pirates are always in packs of six or seven and I'm getting creamed. Of course maybe i'm just in a bad system.

Do any of the OXPs raise game difficulty or cause pirate packs to get larger or..? I'm not quite ready for packs of seven at a time ;)

Did you install the pirate coves? They will increase the pirate activity in the systems that they exist in...
