Those are some excellent ideas!phkb wrote:Some usability functions have been applied. If the "scroll forward" function is selected, and then activated, the next mode will be "scroll back". This allows easier scrolling backwards and forwards. Same with the scroll to next launch and scroll to previous launch.
When "view current" is activated, the mode will be automatically switched to "scroll back". When "view oldest" is activated, the mode will automatically switched to "scroll forward".

Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Re: Comms log MFD
I've now added "CommsLogMFD" to the Oolite manifest list, so it should be available in game as a downloadable package.
And I think in the work I did to get the package installed I may have upset things for a little while. I noticed the wiki was unavailable soon after I published the manifest. I had the wrong download link in my package, and I suspect I managed to kill something somewhere... I'm sorry if that was me!
Anyhoo... it's all working now. Wiki page is up http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/CommsLogMFD, file is available for download from the wiki.

Ha, the wiki does that a lot! If I had a Credit for every time I thought I'd broken it........phkb wrote:I may have upset things for a little while. I noticed the wiki was unavailable soon after I [did something].

Re: Comms log MFD
V1.3 of the CommsLog MFD has been released. Based on discussions here https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=16702, I've adjusted the price of this MFD accordingly, making it 250cr for the whole MFD, not just the scroller part. I've also added some new modes and the ability to view the full log on the interfaces screen. Full details in the first post. With screenshots!

Where can I get this as an OXP? I really want to stay with 1.77

Re: Comms log MFD
I don't think Oolite 1.77 supports MFDs (though I may be wrong - my memory ain't what it was).
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Re: Comms log MFD
Interesting! I converted the CommslogMFD.OXZ to an OXP, then purchased the MFD. I understand that 1.77 doesn't support MFD's, but I am able to bring up the comm logs and scroll forward, back and clear the log, while docked. At least I can review some of the comms that occurred during the heat of battle that I missed.

Re: Comms log MFD
The MFD part is the bit that's restricted to 1.79/1.80. You are correct, though, that the rest of it should work in 1.77, although I haven't tested it. If it works for you, that's great! I'm not planning on doing a separate version for 1.77 unless I get a lot of feedback that people want it.
Re: Comms log MFD
Found a little issue.
When docked, if you use the F4 menu to clear the log, when you exit CommsLog menu the hud remains always disabled... This isn't a real problem, but only if you know that you can turn it again on with (p)ause and "o"... In other words, a new commander can easy enter in "panic mode", without his hud.
EDIT: This is true with my "Coluber HUD CH01".

Thanks for that, Marte. I've found the bug and will post an update soon.

You're welcome. I can also add this error from the log, if useful.
