Good luck to anyone trying to repair the damage! It certainly won't be me - fiction-wise, I'm burnt-out!

All this requires is several like minded individuals with an understanding of the fiction, a white board, a sh*t load of coloured makers and a crate full of beer!

Coffee is for diligence, beer is for pie in the sky.

Burned out my ass, it just stopped being fun thats all. Make it fun and the ability returns.

Trust me, I delivered on the maps. This is fixable; it may just get a little "freeform" that's all.

It'll have to be coffee, as I'm teetotal - have been since the dawn of this millennium.

That might possibly be true! Regardless, there are a couple of other things I'd want to write first, which reminds me...
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

To run with Clym brings to the table, at the end of the Saga Raxxla was blown up and the transchart wormhole network collapsed. But... Raxxla was a complex machine who's mysteries were barely understood. Who's to say if destroying it created an alternate reality where it wasn't destroyed? Or that it's the only machine of it's kind?

Strap in, this can be a hell of a ride.

Ok that's fine. Pro-plus and redbull has much the same effect as beer. It's a bit more wearing on the heart however.

Maybes and might be's. Now your talking my kind of language....... Where did I put the Dark wheel? And all drews books for that matter....

There is a story waiting to be told.

The story of Oolite.

In the beginning. There was the universe. Not the universe as you know it, but a universe of possibilities. The true universe. This universe, the universe you cannot see, feel, sence or detect. Expanded, evolved and grew with every possible moment, a miriad of exploding choice, random change and action. Each change blossomed, into hundreds of entirely new realities. Each branch of choice spread through the darkness of nothing, growing like a tree of light.

As chaos diminished upon one of the many tree limbs of the possible universe. Forces took hold. The branches of reality on that limb dwindled. But, upon a small branch, someone or something found a way to bind the twigs of choice together, to leap between the real and leave the smaller effects of bad choices behind them.

Causing much pain for all those within that clustered branch of possibility.........

This is the legacy of Raxxla. A thing that can. A thing that shouldn't, but a thing that is..or was, or might be.

Oh I see, so rather than the spacelanes being filled with tree frog and the like, it's more a matter that there are tree frogs on one planet have learned to use spears, and we're currently going British Empire on them all. ;)

Heh, now that I've learned about the Wormhole connecting galaxies idea I might need to revise some of parts of my stories. I'd always thought the whole jumping galaxies thing made little sense (given how small each "galaxy" was, and preferred instead the idea of jumping to another part of the same one). Eh, whatchagonnado? ;)

In that case, if you haven't seen it yet, you should get a hell of a kick out of the "Ensign Sue" Trilogy.. I know I have.. having now caught up to date, the new episode released every Friday is the high point of my week.

Reading the article on GalCop, however, mentions nothing of it's fall or vanishing. What happened?
The Empire is a FE2/FFE page and it does not exist in Oolite. I'd edit the relevant page to make it even more clear but I seem to have forgotten the password. Will find it in a week, roughly.

Returning to your first post and to answer the question, nothing happened.
Oolite/Elite is set in the time of the Galactic Co-operative (GalCop), and it is the only pan-galactic organisation. From our in-game perspective that is it - there is just GalCop, which all things considered seems pretty stable and healthy. No Empires, Federations, Commonwealths or anything else.
Just as today in Real Life we cannot know what the future holds, so we cannot know what, if anything, will come after GalCop. But right now GalCop (and HIMSN of course) are the only 'powers', and both look set to continue well into the future, so don't loose any sleep wondering if or when it will fall or vanish.

Doesn't the Her Majesty's Imperial Space Navy imply the existence of an empire, though?

You're right. I missed the very last words on the page were:
Categories: Fiction FE2 FFE
The main reason for this topic is because I have been thinking of writing some OOlite fan fiction. But I guess I don't need to worry about GalCop's demise since in the time of Oolite, it is still strong and very much present. :-)

Hmm... that ain't necessarily so. However, that's all in the back-story... somewhere.

Fair enough.. I may be mis-remembering.. but it wasn't all that big, from what I recall.
