When using Start Choices (or even without) what your ship looks like is the bare default. Maybe when you choose your start you could get a selection of available skins to choose from?
Also is there any easy way to add/change decals on your ship?

I have updated the version of SC for the trunk so that in the selector you see a ship from your current shipset rather than the core one. You skin idea is a nice one, but with the way at least Griff's variations work, I don't know if it's doable.mossfoot wrote:When using Start Choices (or even without) what your ship looks like is the bare default. This is true. Sorry, I should have clarified that regardless you are stuck with just ONE look (albeit that look can change if you have a different Replacement shipset).
But my point was it would be neat if once you select a Start Point and you are shown your ship and the description of start point conditions if you could, say, have menu options to select between the different skins available (either all, or a random selection of 5 or something) between "Accept" and "Go Back".
Just to add a bit more of a personal touch when you start out.

The idea has merit.. but due to the way things work, it would have to be done by the shipset creator.. and as things stand, decals will only work on shader-capable graphics cards. The only way around that would be to bake them into the textures..

Well, even if you couldn't do something with the decals (that was more of an advanced idea/hope), there are always multiple ship skins to choose from, even if it's just a different hull tint. It could simply rotate through all the current hull types available from Replacement/Addition OXPs for that particular class of ship.

Something like it could be done, I'm sure.. after all, there's the Griff Respray OXP already..
