Hi, all!
Was wondering if External Heat Shields are a necessary option for using Fuel Scoop to refuel?
Will my ship go boom without them, or will I simply need strip to my boxers to deal with elevated cockpit temps?

Yes they are pretty essential. It is possible to sun-skim without them but you are likely to get your iron-ass burned!

Thanks, Smivs.
New Commander on a tight budget, so didn't want to spring for unnecessary kit.

Re: Question about External Heat Shields...
If you're looking to refuel without docking at main stations, seek out rock hermits - their fuel is expensive, but they usually offer 'stones and metal at very good prices. On occasion, they pay top-dollar for narcotics and/or furs - and there is often some interesting action to be found in their vicinity.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Or even Fuel Stations if you don't want to dock with anything and still refuel.
