Hi everyone, first off I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone involved in developing this brilliant game from my childhood and also those who create amazing oxps for it!
Unfortunately I have encountered a problem where Oolite stops responding everytime I go to a certain system.
I'm guessing that systems/planets are different for everyone else but everytime I exit hyperspace to Telale in G2 (a rich industrial, communist, TL 10 system) Oolite stops responding.
When I looked at the latest.log and previous.log and the last entries were: 15:23:19.883 [bigShips_populator]: 1 big trader(s) added to the Telale system. <--- Previous.log
17:39:16.669 [bigShips_populator]: 3 big trader(s) added to the Telale system. <---- Latest.log
I removed the BigShips1.02.oxp and I was able to enter Telale no problem.
I was wondering if the problem is with the oxp or wether I have made a mistake with other oxp's that use bigships.oxp or something.
I'm using 64bit Win7 sp1 and Oolite 1.77.1
Thanks in advance
Also this is my first time using a forum so apologies is I have broken any rules or posted this in the wrong place.
Is it the oxp or me?

Welcome aboard, TGGT...
I'll leave your little problem for a boffin to try and answer, methinks.

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Re: Is it the oxp or me?
I think you've correctly surmised what is happening. Bigships in itself is just a populator, but it will add the larger ships provided by certain other OXPs (Aquatics and Liners both contain such ships, for example).
Those ships, by the very nature of their size, tend to be more complex graphically and are a bit more challenging on your machine. So I think when you say your system is stops responding, it is having problems adding those ships. If you wait a little while you should (hopefully) find your system becomes responsive again and you can play.
If not then you could try setting the graphics to a lower detail level, and/or lowering (or disabling) the shaders. Or if not then you are probably better avoiding the big ships if they are stressing things too much. If you don't have Bigships installed, then they won't appear.

Re: Is it the oxp or me?
Hello and welcome to the forums.
BigShips on its own shouldn't break anything since it mainly just provides tools for other OXPs, though taking it out might stop another OXP doing something wrong - but it's slightly odd that whatever happens only happens in Telale consistently and presumably nowhere else. Could you try keeping BigShips in and removing other OXPs to see if one of them is the real problem?
Could you also post a full Latest.log of a trip to Telale (to keep it short, load a save game which is next to Telale, then launch and hyperspace straight away) - use the "Code" button for formatting - as there might be some clues in there.
And as Thargoid says - what spec is your computer? Some OXPs do require a reasonably good computer by 2014 standards.

Re: Is it the oxp or me?
Thanks for your replies guys,
I *think* I have narrowed it down to it being the att1.oxp (armoured transport type 1) I have only recently installed it. Although the wiki dosen't say that it is dependant on bigships.oxp.
I retried the jump at least 20 times now, 10 with the att1.oxp and 10 with it removed, discounting jumps that did not populate any big traders. 3 times Oolite actually crashed instead of just hanging with it installed. Is this enough to say I've tested it properly?
The strange thing is that I actually saw the two ships in the att1.oxp earlier on today when I had launched from and was hanging around a coriolis station admiring the different ships as they went about their business. They looked great btw!
Possibly it was just coincidence that it always seemed to be Telale unless the ATT is more likely to spawn in that type of system (RI,TL10)?
Maybe my system just can't handle the ships or a combination of them and another oxp It's an intel 585 2.16GHz, 4GB of ram with a Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family graphic potato unit.
Here is a log of the last crash if your still interested.
I seem to be missing some of staer9's textures although I don't know what oxp they are supposed to be in and it dosen't seem to affect anything but I will try and sort that out myself later.
Thanks for taking the time to try and help and apologies if this post is too long.

G'day and welcome aboard, The Griffin GT!
Basic-debug.oxp can be deleted.. that will only function with the "test" deployment version of Oolite.. intended for use by OXP authors and devs.
(But "spoiler" tags, so they could only be viewed when wanted, would be nice.. and there is a phpBB Mod available for it.. how 'bout it, oh Mighty BB Gods?)

Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

I believe that part of the problem is right here. This card has been known to be totally unsuitable for gaming and has been the cause of issues in Oolite also in the past. Fully recommend to replace it with at least an Intel HD Graphics level card, if possible. The Griffin GT wrote:... with a Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family graphic potato unit.
