Star Trek ships? Planet Express freighter?
Has anyone put any of the Star Trek ships into an OXP, or the Deep Space 9 station etc.? I haven't checked every OXP, there are just too many, but none of the short descriptions seem to fit.
Also, ages ago I think someone mentioned working on the Planet Express ship from Futurama - did anything come of that?

Take a look at Shipbuilder's excellent Constitution Class Cruiser.ffutures wrote:Has anyone put any of the Star Trek ships into an OXP...

Different universe, but Shipbuilder's Colonial Viper is a sweet ship to fly (his escape pods are excellent too).
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Planet Express is finished and flying, however, since it was initially modeled to scale, it is too small for Oolite. I need to re-scale the ship, then rewrite the shipdata.plist with the new coordinates, and with something like 20 different exhausts, I just haven't worked up the interest in working on it again. But, since you have asked, I will make an effort in the next day or two to finish it and make it available. };]ffutures wrote:Has anyone put any of the Star Trek ships into an OXP, or the Deep Space 9 station etc.? That's quite a fun little ship - managed to take out a Thargoid warship on my second flight, but got zapped by pirates on my third, so I'd say play balance is reasonably good.

May not be the most accurate ship as the lasers are so far off center (wasn't really an issue when it was 2/3rds smaller. }:] ), but it's fun to see it flying around. I will however stick to my Snake Charmer for my personal ship. };]ffutures wrote:That's quite a fun little ship - managed to take out a Thargoid warship on my second flight, but got zapped by pirates on my third, so I'd say play balance is reasonably good.

Well, for cargo I've got a fully pimped out Boa Cruiser, this is obviously going to be a fun ride, not for serious business. You're right about the gun thing, it is a long way off centre, but I learned to adjust my aim fairly quickly.Paradox wrote:May not be the most accurate ship as the lasers are so far off center (wasn't really an issue when it was 2/3rds smaller. }:] ), but it's fun to see it flying around. Just ran into one of these as it was being attacked by a pirate swarm, came to the rescue and had some fun shooting up the pirates. It does look very pretty in flight. Now I'm imagining meeting up with Leela at the spaceport bar and sinking a few cold Slurms...

I do like having the monotony broken up when seeing things like these, or the Heart of Gold, or the Space Zeppelin. Wakes me up a bit and makes me smile. };]
Hopefully someday we will have a reason to model ship interiors as well, then I can make a Leela at the helm!
