Thargoid
I am having a problem with Thargoids. What can I use to kill one? Alternatively, how can I avoid being killed?

Firstly, DON'T PANIC!
Ignore the Robot Fighters, go for the the mother-ship. Military Lasers are usually sufficient (Pulse Lasers will just get you killed, Beam Lasers are feasible but risky), but try to take them at long range. Make sure you shoot well. Close Combat with Thargoids is only for the experts.

A full heat bar of a Military Laser should be enough to take out a standard Thargoid warship, leaving all its little robot ships waiting in space to be scooped or shot.
Be warned, various additional Thargoid ships added by OXPs are not so easily defeated.
