Correct, you don't need that setting any more.

I just took my old (and battered) Logitech Attack 3 out, and had to re-assign a few buttons. I scroll down to the item, hit 'u' to unset - then the cursor jumps back up to Edit Axis Profiles. It's a very minor thing, but it can be a little irksome if you're re-assigning a lot of buttons. The configurator thingy sure helps with an old 'stick though.
