In answer to the last part, JH - yes (unless something has changed). There used to be another way (which I used), but that is much harder/impossible now.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

I didn't say that, did I? It probably does (it shouldn't, imo), but it ain't how I did the mission (with no OXP help) - way back when.
