<chuckles> I knew the sound had improved greatly, but had no idea it could handle 5.1 sound (I only have 2.1) - very cool.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Hi,

I'm an olde Eliteer from my Commodore 64 days, revisited it again on the Amiga A500 (Best computer EVER!!), had a look at it on PC (didn't like what i saw)...

I stumbled across Oolite recently, looking for remakes of old classics, (WinLOM etc).
It sat dormant on an old laptop for about 3 weeks (my son bought his PS4, so i HAD to see if i was gonna be good at COD Ghosts (NO!!)) Got extremely bored with Ghosts within 2 weeks!

so...
I needed to find a game i could get deeply involved in... AH HA! lets give Oolite a whirl...
Ohhh... NICE!! Can i still Dock without scraping the paintjob? 2 Hours later, FINALLY!! YAY! done it, got docked in another System Coriolus Station (Diso) with 17 tons of food to make my first profit in nearly 25 years!!

Long story short...
A week later, i complete Constrictor hunt (with a few nice OXPS installed) Get my "Dangerous" rating (actually completed about 15 mins ago)

Upshot?
Incredibly impressed with Oolite, The OXPs make it Elite++++++++(get the idea) and fillout a very good game making it something that would easily command a decent price tag these days (have you seen some of the drekk being peddled on some consoles online stores? for a tenner or more?)

Thanks for making a miserable old git smile again!

I think i've found a new home!!

It's been a while since a game has grabbed me by the olde dangly bits, but its having an affect! I am lucky enough to work nights in a hotel as a night manager, so my laptop will be coming to work every night now..

It looks like there is a very friendly community on here, so i look forward to some friendly banter and chucking some ideas about!

Thanks for the welcome!
I have returned! Less annoying and still enjoying the mighty Oo!
1.86 on self reconned dell studio xps thru Pep 8/64. Runs very well.
Nice to see its still well supported. Oo, Suits you, Sir!

Haha, it's all one and the same to those myopic Cougar pilots. You just need to fit into their narrow definition of a law breaker. By the by, The Cougar is back from the nether world, albeit less intimidating.

Hi, I’m Ford

I have been playing Oolite for years now – in several minor (month-long) addictive fits ☺

This is just one of the greatest games. It opens your imagination and just goes on forever like nothing else.

I already played Elite on C-64 and Amiga.

There might be commercial successors of the original game in the future (and I backed the upcoming one gladly) but Oolites future versions, its openness for self-created OXP’s and this community will hopefully be there in 50 years when I will admit to being an old man, still playing Oolite like silly and never be bored.

Big thanks for keeping Oolite up-to-date and developing it while keeping with the basic concepts. Froody!

Hoopy greets, Ford!

(Did you see that the [EliteWiki] Heart of Gold is now available in Oolite? :D )
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Hi everyone,

I found Oolite last year and its amazing :D many thanks to the devs for all the hard work, and to all the OXPers on this board. Together you have created something really awesome. Using this board, the wiki, and your wonderful OXPs as a reference, I have managed to create some of my own OXPs. This ability to customize the game is incredible.

Welcome aboard, Stormrider. Sorry it took so long to approve your first post - it slipped in under the radar.
