Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous
Peek of the Week no.14
Here's some concept of a city in space. All the orbital objects are kept aligned towards the distant but highly radioactive neutron star stellar companion of the bright star to the right of the image. Each object has heavy shielding (both powered and physical) in this direction, to protect their delicate human occupants, with the rest of the object in the radiation shadow of that shielding. Many of the objects rotate independently, to give some level of artificial gravity, with the large ring rotating very slowly.

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous
beautiful painting, i hope Frontier release an art book at some point, the concept art has been fantastic so far.
If that's a docking bay those two ships are flying out of then it looks like we won't be needing to spend credits on docking computers, it's massive
How's everyone been getting on with the alpha? any more news on future updates?

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous
I haven't actually touched the alpha since the first 2 weeks or so. Took a break for Christmas and never felt the need to go back afterwards (then I got ill and gaming was not really on the menu at that point). I did get my red/cyan glasses a week ago and plan to try out the 3D effects this weekend if I feel like gaming again.Griff wrote:How's everyone been getting on with the alpha? any more news on future updates?

Crikey! The natives are restless on the E: D forum today - talk of 'being conned' by the new shop, people pleading for guild stuff! Where's my Gatling gun?
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous
That new shop is a bit weird though, my address was all scrambled up and my surname was just `1`, apparently it's normal if your order just shows that you've bought the 2nd stage beta at £50 if you bought the boxed edition of the game for £90, I'm just mentioning it here to save anyone else from having to wade through pages of forum injokes and typed out monty python sketches to find this out

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous
I suppose data migration from the old backers app has not gone smoothly. All 4 accounts here (3 children and myself) were quite badly mixed up. Also, the only products that have been transferred so far seems to be digital download of the game, beta 1, beta 2 and alpha. I'm sure they will get around to fixing these problems eventually and before they start sending out stuff.Griff wrote:That new shop is a bit weird though, my address was all scrambled up and my surname was just `1`, apparently it's normal if your order just shows that you've bought the 2nd stage beta at £50 if you bought the boxed edition of the game for £90, I'm just mentioning it here to save anyone else from having to wade through pages of forum injokes and typed out monty python sketches to find this out

You can borrow mine if you want. I'll throw in a few grenades for good measure.Cody wrote:Crikey! The natives are restless on the E: D forum today - talk of 'being conned' by the new shop, people pleading for guild stuff! Where's my Gatling gun?

I think that's how the shop works - it only shows actual products, not KS rewards.Gimi wrote:Also, the only products that have been transferred so far seems to be digital download of the game, beta 1, beta 2 and alpha.
Erm... would they be fragmentation grenades? That'll do nicely!

You can have some of those too...Cody wrote:I think that's how the shop works - it only shows actual products, not KS rewards.Gimi wrote:Also, the only products that have been transferred so far seems to be digital download of the game, beta 1, beta 2 and alpha.

Yep, agree, that is how the store is meant to work, but that is also a part of the problem for some. More products will be introduced later, but not any of the backer rewards from what I understand.
