Anaconda with Naval Energy unit

Post by Mad Hollander »

Sometimes the ships in the shipyard have Naval Energy Unit. The only exclusion is Anaconda - I've never seen it in the shipyard with Naval Energy Unit and that's a bit strange.
Has anyone saw this ship with Naval Energy Unit ?

According to the shipyard.plist, the NEU is in the optional equipment list.. guess you've just been unlucky.
"anaconda-player" =
{
chance = 0.125;
"optional_equipment" =
(
"EQ_ECM",
"EQ_FUEL_SCOOPS",
"EQ_PASSENGER_BERTH",
"EQ_ESCAPE_POD",
"EQ_ENERGY_BOMB",
"EQ_ENERGY_UNIT",
"EQ_NAVAL_ENERGY_UNIT",
"EQ_DOCK_COMP",
"EQ_WEAPON_PULSE_LASER",
"EQ_WEAPON_BEAM_LASER",
"EQ_WEAPON_MINING_LASER",
"EQ_WEAPON_MILITARY_LASER",
"EQ_FUEL_INJECTION",
"EQ_SCANNER_SHOW_MISSILE_TARGET",
"EQ_MULTI_TARGET",
"EQ_GAL_DRIVE",
"EQ_ADVANCED_COMPASS",
"EQ_SHIELD_BOOSTER",
"EQ_HEAT_SHIELD"
);

You should also be aware that if you buy a ship with an NEU and it gets broken you won't be able to fix it but it can be replaced with an extra energy unit.
The NEU is awarded to the player for successful conclusion of a core-game mission, and after you have been officially awarded one, it can be repaired.

But if you get the ship first then fly that mission, it still counts and you can get it repaired later. Or if you later buy a better ship with NEU that can be repaired. That's been my experience anyway.

Having said that, the Anaconda is a HORRIBLE ship, even with NEU. Can't think of any redeeming features except size, and even that just means you are more or less forced to take on cargo contracts, there simply isn't enough good cargo otherwise.

Seven missile pylons, a large number of energy banks, stable long-range gunnery platform... yes, an "iron-ass Anaconda" isn't necessarily a contradiction in terms 8)

Now all I need is a Naval Energy Unit and I'll be all set! :D

And not even unpredictably unlucky: the NEU has a high tech level, so will often be skipped over except in the top systems (and TL13+s are rare), and the Anaconda has a low "chance" value, so the chance of it having much extra equipment at all is low.

Um... well, I suppose there's no accounting for taste. I prefer the Boa Cruiser - sweet fast ride, maneuverable, 175 tons cargo, five missiles, and it can take a lot of damage if you've got a NEU and military shields. The Cobra is fun too, but fast beats big any day, as far as I'm concerned.

Boa Cruiser and Anaconda are too big when it is going to fight at long distance and any smaller ship is much stronger, ie ferdelance or moray. I need the anaconda just for my collection.

Ships in the shipyard can have Naval Energy Unit at much lover TL then 13.

Yes, they can, but the larger the gap between the item's TL and the system's TL, the greater the chance that it will not actually be added to the ship.
