Like it
Game music seems a tricky business to me; even moreso than in film, you don't want something too intrusive to the player's experience. I'd say that you get it about right.
I really liked some of your stuff for Famous Planets. That Lave piece was a great one to launch into the big wide Ooniverse

Thank you Redspear. Oolite has inspired me to do some music. At first the plan with Famous Planets was to include a different music to each system but that is way too ambitious. In the new Famous Planets I therefore removed the music. I agree I liked it but in that case you have to do it right or not.

You're not kiddingpagroove wrote:At first the plan with Famous Planets was to include a different music to each system but that is way too ambitious.
Have you considered doing a piece for each of the non-human races? Perhaps to be played upon entering an appropriate system?
Most systems are inhabited by 'human colonials' so if you miss them out then music is still rare enough not to become overplayed.
For example, the 'Lave' piece I mentioned has a mysterious quality to it that makes me think of the ocean or hidden depths of some kind, so I'm considering rigging it up to play on entering 'Lobster' inhabited systems (it's been added to my ever-growing 'to do' list )
In the core game, a system's inhabitants have no effect beyond the info-screen. This could be a nice way to make players feel like they have gone somewhere different...
Anyway, thanks for the music

Oh yes yes please do it! A piece of music for every non-human race and some generic beats for human colonists?Redspear wrote:Have you considered doing a piece for each of the non-human races? Perhaps to be played upon entering an appropriate system?
