Mistake Not My Current State Of Joshing Gentle Peevishness For The Awesome And Terrible Majesty Of The Towering Seas Of Ire That Are Themselves The Milquetoast Shallows Fringing My Vast Oceans Of Wrath is probably the omega of ship names - and somewhat fitting for his final Culture novel.

For reference, that's definitely too long to use in Oolite.

One for primable equipment, and one to name beacons and waypoints (the latter not yet implemented) on the compass.

I suspected as much!
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Perhaps the ships need nicknames as well, like us. :)
I mean, I don't expect you all to refer to me as "His exalted and most high majesty, uberpumpkinfieldenfuhrer Smivs the humungous, son of Ronald the magnificent, Grand Ambassador to the Ooniverse for the noble and gracious people of Cucurbita" do I? Smivs is fine.

It's...It's, some kind of low tech attack on ship's visual systems. Like a buffer overrun...it must be...it makes no sense otherwise!

I can't help thinking that by the time someone finished hailing that ship, whatever conflict you were in would be well and truly over - or you'd be dead!

It'd be rather like talking to this guy. :-)

Hence the more usual method of referring to the ship simply as the Mistake Not...

Even after saying "Mistake Not..." the conflict would be over.

Muchas gracias to the Devs for Oolite 1.77.1 (especially its SSE2-optimised variant).
