Eject you fool!

Post by Dr.Tripsa »

I cannot seem to save the wreckage from random ships that cross my lasers (Honest, Officer... he ran into the beam, 37 times!) No matter how I slow down between strikes they all seem to blow up rather than eject and leave me some pretty salvage :(

What can I do about this?

I'm waiting for the 'plasma' to stop between laser strikes, am I missing something important here?
No, I'm not a Trumble... that's a speciest and offensive remark!

A quick look through the shipdata.plist suggests that none of them have escape capsules, so they aren't ejecting because they can't. :(

Don't really know what you're asking. But if its "wreckage", that always blows up, you can't scoop it.

¿Que?
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

You can install ShipVersion OXP to award Escape Pods to all NPC ships. If you set AwardMax=1 then will award only this and no more (you can set it to your skills, I suggest 4 to [EliteWiki] Mostly Harmless pilots).

[wiki]Towbar[/wiki] OXP can help also:
1. NPCs take the lesson named "how to push the eject button when energy is low" (but seems to be some of them failed this exam). But all of them take the "how to push the missile launch button as last resort before push the eject button" course also (without fails). ;)
2. You will get the bounty right when the pilot ejected so you do not need to blow the ship at all, which is essential if you want to tow it to a dock for money.
3. Laser Reductor equipment help to cause less damage to the derelict ships to leave them in one piece a bit longer so you maybe can stop your beam shot in time.
